The Guy Fawkes 10 is traditionally one of the biggest participation events in our calendar year and for the 2014 race no less than 39 members turned out to fly the Harriers flag.  As usual, our friends in Nidd Valley put on a cracking event and the “modified” course (the resurfacing work on the trail section) meant for a less muddy experience than usual!

The race was won by Scott Harrington (Otley A.C.) in 57:00 and Lindsey Clegg (Horsforth Harriers in 1:08:53, while first Harriers across the line were Andy Grant in 1:03:05 and 4th MV40, Sally Houghton had a tremendous race to finish in 1:14:22 and 1st LV45.

In fairness to Andy, I think it should be pointed out that only the previous week he placed highly in the Snowdonia Marathon otherwise he would have expected him to be a bit further up the finishing order.  Well done for turning out at all I reckon – excellent effort!

In recent years it has been traditional for all Harriers to gather at Pat & Susan Brew’s home after the race (next to the castle), but they have sadly moved to the United States.  Dan Simmons stepped into the breach and very kindly erected a gazebo next to the church, feeding the hungry Harriers contingent with some vats of his outstanding chilli – chapeau Dan!!
