It’s been our most successful outing at the West Yorkshire Cross Country league for some years and there has been excellent participation from club members. The last fixture of the year took place on Sunday 4th December at Keighley University Academy with a large amount of Harrogate Harriers competing in practically every category, the final results speaking for themselves:
For the ladies, Claire Jones finished 9th in the U20s, while Chloe Hirst was 10th in the 20 – 35 open category. In the FV35s our ladies did fantastically well, Crystal Goecker, Emma Robinson and Helen Mercer Jones taking 2nd, 3rd and 5th respectively. In the FV50s, Sarah Gill finished 3rd.
In the Mens’ final standings, George Mills took the U20 title, while Jonny Johnson was 5th in the 20 – 35 Open category. Andy Grant stormed to the MV45 title with four straight wins, while Chris Gibbins did well to claim 4th place. It was a similar situation in the MV60 category, where Geoff King took 1st place with Brian Miller in 2nd. Ben Grant made it a family double with 1st place in the MV60s.
There were lots of other great performances from our members, but these results really stand out and should not be understated – these are highly competitive events and Harrogate Harriers have really displayed our strength. The overall team standings show that our Senior Ladies finished second overall, while our Senior Men claimed third, this is outstanding. Well done to all!!
