2008 Road Race Club Championships

The Harrogate Harriers 2008 Road Running Club Championship is once again based around the Summer League and Black Sheep Series with a few amendments.

• The points system. This year the last member to finish to score one point, the first to finish to score the number of points of members competing. Example 12 members run Melmerby the first HH to finish scores 12 points and the last 1 point.
• The Summer League races this year are at Ilkley 6th May, Nidd Valley 22nd May, Thirsk & Sowerby 5th June, Leeds & Bradford Tri 17th June and Swaledale 1st July. The Ripon handicap will not count for points. You have to do at least three - if you do more your best three to count.
• The Black Sheep Series starts with The Fountains 10K on the 27th April, then The Ripon 10 mile 11th May, Melmerby 10K 25th May, Kirkby Malzeard 10K 7th June, Rainton 10K 29th June, Burn Valley Half Marathon 5th July, Burton Leonard 10K 20th July and the Wetherby Run 10K 14th September. You have to do at least three of the 10K's - if you do more your best three to count. N.B. - The Garrison 10K, Catterick, is no longer part of the 2008 Black Sheep Series.
• The other difference for 2008 is you have to complete a 10 mile race and a half marathon (it was a bit vague last year), but you have a wider choice of the longer races. As well as the Ripon 10 and The Burn Valley Half we have added two ten milers, The Guy Fawkes 10 on the 2nd November and The Thirsk 10 on the 30th November. Also two Half Marathons - The Leeds Half Marathon run this year on the 7th of September and The Great North Run on the 5th October. If you do all the longer races your best two ten milers and your best two half marathons will count.
• To summarize
  • To win you have to complete at least three Evening League races
  • Three 10K races
  • One 10 miler and
  • One half marathon from the above list.

July 01 - Swaledale
The Ripon Handicap, July 15, will not count for Championship points.
