Harrogate Town Centre 10K 2017

After a break of one year to allow the running of the inaugural Great Yorkshire Run in Harrogate, the Town Centre 10K is back and seeks to be the best ever!  The GYR brought nearly 3,000 runners to Harrogate and although we can’t accommodate quite so many runners, we’ve upped our race limit to 1,000 in order give the maximum opportunity to those seeking to return.  It remains the fastest 10K in the county, the record being set by Matthew Hynes (North Yorkshire Moors A.C.) in 30:45, the ladies record is held by Charlene Thomas (Wakefield Harriers) in 34:48.  Starting and finishing in the picturesque Crescent Gardens, the race has a vibrant, cheerful atmosphere and one of the best and fastest finishes around that you really have to experience.

For 2017 Harrogate Harriers and A.C. offer a cash prize of £200 to the winners of both Men’s and Ladies’ races, plus numerous category prizes.  There is also an additional £100 on offer to the winning runners in the event one or both of the course records are broken.

We are lucky to be supported by some very generous sponsors, all of whom have contributed to making the race an exciting prospect.  For 2017 we are joined by our friends at SHFT, the team behind the World’s first ever virtual running coach.  SHFT is designed to help you run better, faster and with less injuries, it accurately tracks and analyses your full body running style and statistics, through two intelligent pods that are placed on your chest and on your right shoe. Your running data is translated into simple, actionable and real-time coaching instructions – with LIVE audio through your mobile phone!  SHFT have very kindly donated two packages, each worth £175.00.  The winners will be the first man/lady to cross the finish line who have a Harrogate (HG) postcode!

Electronic chip timing will be provided by Sports Timing Solutions (STS) and we will also provide a free SMS text message results service.

The 2017 race will be in support of the Harrogate Community Track initiative, this is an ambitious project to bring a state-of-the-art running track to Harrogate and Harrogate Harriers have teamed with Ashville College to make this a reality.
