Training
Tuesdays at 7:00 pm | Thursdays at 6:30
pm
Please join us on a run and try out the Club's training sessions.
Our main training session is held on Tuesday night from 7.00pm to
8.00pm. We also meet on Thursday at 6.30pm**, usually at the Harrogate
Squash and Sports Club just off Plantation Road in Harrogate unless there
is a running or social event elsewhere. ** See note below
Tuesday training
sessions are split into ability groups. There are normally fast,
medium and slower groups:
The
fast group will typically train at between 6:00 and 7:30 minute
mile pace. The training session normally involves efforts, the type
of effort decided on the night. It may be some sort of fartlek session,
a hill session, intervals etc.
The
medium group will typically do some type of interval training during
the autumn and winter months and are coached by
Ian Rowbotham.
The
social group will typically train at between 8:30 and 9:30 minute
mile pace. The pace will be dictated by the slowest members of the
group. The route and distance is generally decided on the night,
but typically between 5 and 7 miles.
On
Thursdays there are normally just the medium and slower groups, the
usual format being a run in the local area. People are encouraged to
move between each group and fit in wherever they they feel most
comfortable.
NEW!! Harry Dowdell has kindly
volunteered to coach interval sessions on Thursday evenings,
commencing 4th March. This is for a trial period and
will leave the clubhouse at 7:00 pm, but please note these sessions do not replace the
"usual" run that leaves the clubhouse at 6:30 pm.
Harry's training schedule is posted on the Harriers Forum, please
