Easter results update - 2nd April 2018
Easter weekend always provides plenty of opportunities for racing and this year was no different, with Harrogate Harriers taking part in events all around the district.
On Saturday 31st the Daffodil Dash offered a variety of distances around Temple Newsom. Jodie Peary and Sue Moul finished the 10k in 22nd and 23rd in around 1hr 6 minutes while Aimee Bellwood completed the half marathon distance, finishing 28th in 2:19. Times meant little, though, on a course that was both hilly and muddy.
Conditions weren't any better for the Guiseley Gallop trail race on Easter Sunday when runners spent much of the race ankle deep in either water or mud. Chris Miller battled to a second place finish in a field of 457, conceding only seven seconds to Jack Cummings of Ilkley. Following them were Richard Willis (82nd), Brian Miller (83rd & 1st over-60), Tim Broomfield (129th), Matthew Lucock (314th) and Mike Gill (332nd).
Meanwhile, over at Elvington Airfield, Coralin Harrison and Jillie Townend were taking part in the Eelvington Flyer. Mud may not have been a problem but strong and cold winds put paid to any ideas of personal bests. Coralin finished the 5M race in 54:42 while Jillie took 10th place in the 10M in an excellent 1:10:22.
Eralier in the week Geoff Hirst and Paul Richardson visited the Brownlee Centre in Leeds for the second of the evening 5k series. They were both able to take advantage of the fast course and good conditions to record decent times. Paul finished 21st in 18:41 and Geoff posted 19:43, finishing 48th.
