Monday 2nd January 2017 will be an important day for  Harrogate Harriers, we are planning a number of events to promote fund-raising efforts in support of building a full athletics track at Ashville College and the first will be our Track Awareness Run on the date above.   This will be a social run involving the entire club round the Harrogate Ringway starting from Waterside in Knaresborough at 9.30am.

We have now submitted a planning application to the council to build the athletics track.  Once this has been approved, we will begin the daunting task of raising the £1.5 million needed to build the facility.

A number of seniors will run the entire twenty-mile route and we have estimated what time they will pass eleven key drop in/out points.  Others can join and run as far as they wish and then pull out at one of these points. Seniors will be encouraged to look out for younger runners, parents could also run if they wish. As everyone runs at a different pace, there will be a column of members stretching back over the course and with us all wearing club colours, we will not fail to make an impact and generate interest in our forthcoming project.

We will be encouraging our Juniors to seek sponsorship from friends, parents and grandparents etc therefore spreading the word of the Harrogate Harriers Community Track Project. We will also try and attract media interest and we want every member to promote our event where possible.

Harrogate Harriers have a combined a membership of almost six hundred and an enormous range of talent to draw upon.  THIS WILL ONLY WORK if we have close on 100% participation, so please do your best to support your club and keep the morning of the 2nd of January free.  It will be an enjoyable social event and the first step to the club having a track and headquarters of it's own.
