Championship opener on Ilkley Moor despite harsh conditions
The first race of the 2020 Off-Road Club Championship - the Ilkley Moor Fell Race - went ahead despite the weather, but it was pretty ugly. Heavy overnight rain meant that the course was not in it best condition and the strong winds were in entirely the wrong direction, meaning a real fight on the higher ground. It was a good turnout from the club though, Chris Miller started off his season in fine style with a well-deserved 9th place overall in 44.16, Tim Richardson and Chris Gibbins put in similarly good performances. Victoria Tremlin ran a determined and very clever race, getting in front of the lo-gjam at the start and to use her own words "running at the red line all the way" race to finish first HH lady, just nipping in under the hour. Well done to everyone that braved it.
