Over 600 runners have raised more than £1100 for NHS Charities Together by taking part in the Virtual Run Harrogate 10k during June and July 2020.
Harrogate Harriers Chairman Adam Prentis said “it was clear that our annual race wouldn’t be able to go ahead so we quickly changed our plans to offer a virtual race whereby runners could do any 10k route at any time during a 6 week period and receive a medal and certificate.”
The race proved hugely popular with many runners using it as a chance to train for their first 10k and to keep motivated during the period of national lockdown. The event attracted a large number of female runners from across the UK, as far apart as Aberdeenshire and Bournemouth.
Harrogate Harriers organises the annual Run Harrogate 10k and is planning to be back on 4th July 2021 with a traditional race format www.harrogate-harriers.co.uk/races
We have entries from all over the UK. The below map highlights where people chose to participate in the Virtual 10K.
