Joining Harrogate Harriers & AC

Joining a any club for the first time can feel daunting. We want to make your transition into the Harriers as easy as we can. Our training sessions are designed to get the best out of every runner and nobody gets left behind. No matter how fast you are or how long you’ve been running, we want you to go home feeling like you’ve given your best and your day’s got better.

To be comfortable running with us, you should be able to run for thirty minutes at a pace that’s comfortable for you without stopping. If you don't feel you are up to this yet, we still want to help - drop an email to:

membership@harrogate-harriers.co.uk

and we can have a chat about ways you can prepare to join us.

What to expect after joining

  • A “together” team that wears its club colours with pride, supporting each other from the smallest road and trail races to the longest marathons and ultras. And once the running’s over, regular social events with new friends and running buddies.

  • The opportunity to be more “competitive" - training with us will help to unlock potential you might never knew you had - or build your health and hopefully longevity!

  • A “community” welcome - let any of the gathered runners know that it’s your first time and they’ll point you to a run leader or committee member that will make sure you have a great first training session and involve you in our running community and beyond.

Please have a look at our club goals and how we try to ensure we engage with our club ethos and meet our members pledge - see club ethos.

We want to provide you with a running buddy who has been with the club for some time - so please ask us about this. We will link you up with a ‘regular’ who can answer any initial questions and support your transition into the club.

If you decide you want to join after a trial period - please apply for membership via the club Online Membership Portal. If you have any queries, please email membership@harrogate-harriers.co.uk.

We use PayPal to collect your membership fee and future renewals.

The membership period runs from 1st April and includes full affiliation to England Athletics. This gives a number of benefits including discounted race fees at many race events across the country.

Harrogate Harriers Running Club: A Place For Everyone

At Harrogate Harriers, we believe in making running accessible to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances. We understand that not everyone can afford membership fees, and we're committed to ensuring that this isn't a barrier to being part of our community.

If you're interested in joining but are concerned about the fees, please know that we are open to discussing ways the club can help cover these costs. Our goal is to include as many runners as possible, because every member enriches our club.

For a confidential discussion about fee support, please reach out to us at welfare@harrogate-harriers.co.uk. Let's make sure everyone has the chance to run with us.
