Training

Harrogate Harriers provide athletes with structured training which can be used as an objective measurement of their performance. The sessions are designed to help athletes of every ability to improve their performance.  (timings may vary please check socials, weekly email or get in touch)

The Harriers meet at Harrogate Squash and Fitness Centre twice a week for training sessions. In general, we will be there...but if it is your first session and you aren't a member, it would be best to email someone from the committee first to check on arrangements.

Do’s & Don’ts

  • Do be nice to each other and other road/footpath users. Remember you represent the club

  • Don’t wear headphones, you can’t hear instructions or traffic

  • Do listen to the advice of your run leaders and coaches. They are there for your safety and to provide guidance

  • Don’t pigeon-hole yourself. You never know what you can achieve until you try!

Mondays 6.00pm

Easy Hour. Social run. 8:20-8:30 per mile, and/or a slower group by consensus. Runs from Trinity Church generally - for members only

Tuesdays 7.00pm

This is the main training night aimed to improve performance whatever your start point.  Coaches normally run 3-4 groups covering short intervals, long intervals, hills and fartlek, threshold sessions as part of a cyclic and progressive training programme. We also offer 10k training programmes / marathon training depending on the time of year and group needs.

Thursdays

Times and locations advised in weekly notices and social media.

Thursday runs usually break into 2 or 3 groups.

Taster sessions (Trial Period)

For all new athletes we operate a 4-week ‘taster session’ policy to ensure the club is right for you before you commit to joining. If you’re attending on this basis then please carry an ‘In Case of Emergency’ (ICE) contact details with you and give one to your run leader.
